Zimbabwe Women Vs India Women – 1st T20I Match Highlights – 16 Oct 2026
India Women began their T20I series against Zimbabwe with a win, but the chase turned out to be far more difficult than expected. After restricting Zimbabwe to 114/5 in Raipur, India slipped to 19/4 and suddenly found themselves under serious pressure. Deepti Sharma and debutant Niki Prasad then stepped up when their team needed them most.
Zimbabwe had a steady start after losing Beloved Biza early. Kelis Ndhlovu scored 42 from 44 balls, while Sharne Mayers stayed unbeaten on 43 off 33 deliveries. Their contributions helped Zimbabwe reach 114 in 20 overs. Nandani Sharma was India’s leading wicket-taker, finishing with figures of 2/11.
The Indian reply began badly. Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Anushka Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur were all dismissed cheaply. Nyasha Gwanzura caused much of the damage, claiming three wickets and giving Zimbabwe a genuine chance of an upset.
Deepti, however, kept her composure and made 49 from 37 balls. Niki Prasad looked equally calm on debut, scoring an unbeaten 39. Their 82-run partnership changed the direction of the match, and Niki finished the job with a boundary as India reached 116/6 in 15.4 overs.
India won by four wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Deepti Sharma was named Player of the Match.
