West Indies vs India – 1st ODI Match Highlights – 27 Sep 2026
India started the ODI series with a convincing eight-wicket win over West Indies on September 27 at Thiruvananthapuram. West Indies batted first and put 295 runs on the board, thanks largely to Justin Greaves, who played a patient 101 from 108 balls. John Campbell added 62, while Amir Jangoo gave the innings a late push with an unbeaten 58.
India’s reply began well, although Rohit Sharma’s 32-run stay came to an end after a useful opening partnership. Shubman Gill then took charge alongside Virat Kohli, and the chase started looking much easier.
Gill brought up a century and finished with 110, while Kohli produced the innings of the day. The veteran batter smashed an unbeaten 139 from 88 balls, with 10 fours and nine sixes. During the chase, Kohli also passed the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket.
India eventually reached 300 for 2 in 41.4 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad stayed unbeaten with Kohli as India completed the chase with 50 balls still unused. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav had taken four wickets for 40 runs, helping keep West Indies to a manageable total.
