Australia 2-0 Turkey - FIFA World Cup Group D Match Highlight 14 Jun 2026

What a massive statement from the Socceroos! Absolutely nobody saw this dominance coming, but Australia just put on a tactical masterclass to brush past Turkey 2-0 in their Group D opener. The Turkish fans made the stadium a complete cauldron of noise, but the Aussies kept their cool and completely silenced the critics.

The first half was a proper cagey affair, with Turkey keeping most of the ball but doing absolutely nothing useful with it. Australia just sat back, absorbed the pressure, and then struck like a lightning bolt right before the break. A sloppy giveaway in the midfield allowed the Aussies to break on a deadly counter-attack, ending with a brilliant low cross that was tapped in at the back post. 1-0, and the stadium went into shock.

Turkey threw everything forward in the second half, completely desperate to find a way back into the game. But the Australian defense was an absolute brick wall. Then, with about ten minutes left on the clock, the killer blow landed. Turkey got caught sleeping on a set-piece, and a towering header from a corner sealed the historic 2-0 win for Australia. Massive three points!
