India Vs New Zealand – 2nd T20I Match Highlights – 24 OCT 2026

India found themselves in serious trouble during the second T20I against New Zealand, but Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy had other ideas. Their late partnership turned a difficult chase into a four-wicket victory at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 24.

New Zealand batted first and posted 180/5 in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips played another impressive innings, scoring 70 from 43 balls, while Bevon Jacobs contributed 58 off 46. Their 116-run partnership rescued the hosts after India’s bowlers had reduced them to 41/3. Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets, helping India keep the target within reach.

India’s chase, however, nearly slipped away. Mitchell Santner caused plenty of damage with his left-arm spin, taking four wickets for 21 runs. India fell to 70/5 and later lost Naman Dhir after his useful 31 off 17 balls. At 112/6, the visitors still needed a substantial contribution to stay alive.

Tilak Varma delivered under pressure, smashing an unbeaten 51 from 26 deliveries. Nitish Kumar Reddy supported him brilliantly with 26 not out off 13 balls. Their unbroken 69-run stand carried India to 181/6 in 19.5 overs.

India won by four wickets and moved 2-0 ahead in the five-match series. Tilak’s calm finish earned him Player of the Match honours.
