Chennai Super Kings fans can finally breathe a massive sigh of relief! CSK snapped a painful five-game losing streak by pulling off a hard-fought five-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium.
LSG got sent in to bat on a surface that offered plenty of spin. Rishabh Pant anchored their entire effort, grinding out a captain’s knock of 63 off 49 balls. But Chennai kept the scoring rate tight. Ravindra Jadeja was super tidy through the middle overs with figures of 2 for 24, while MS Dhoni had a vintage night behind the stumps including a crazy direct-hit run out. LSG eventually scrambled to 166 for 7.
Chasing 167 wasn’t straightforward at all. Rachin Ravindra provided a bright spark early on with 37, but leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi pulled LSG back into the fight with two quick scalps.
With the required rate creeping up, Shivam Dube kept his head down, anchoring the chase with a calm 43 not out. Then MS Dhoni walked in and blew the roof off the stadium, smashing a quickfire 26 off just 11 balls to guide CSK over the line with three balls left.
