What an absolute banger of a match to start the New Year! The BBL clash between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades yesterday was pure drama from the first ball till the absolute end.
Sydney Sixers batted first and honestly, they got off to a flyer. Josh Philippe was in a crazy mood, smashing boundaries all over the place. He made a quickfire 58 off just 32 balls. Jordan Silk also chipped in near the end with a fast 35 to carry the Sixers to a big total of 182 runs. Renegades’ bowlers looked completely clueless in the death overs, giving away way too many loose balls.
Chasing 183 was never going to be easy, but Melbourne Renegades gave it everything. Jake Fraser-McGurk started hitting massive sixes from ball one, scoring a brilliant 67. For a moment, it looked like Renegades would coast home easily. But then Sean Abbott changed the whole game in the 17th over. He took two wickets back-to-back and choked the runs completely. Renegades needed 12 runs off the final over, but they just couldn’t do it. Sixers won a real nail-biter by 4 runs. What a game!
