gt got to bat first after losing the toss and things started looking super dangerous for them early on. boult was swinging the new ball like crazy and picked up a wicket in his very first over. but then shubman gill stood up like a champion and played a massive knock under crazy pressure. he smashed a brilliant 75 off just 44 balls with some of the most beautiful cricketing shots you will ever see. small cameos from the middle order pushed gt to a really competitive 184 runs on the board.
chasing 185 in a knockout match is always a massive mental game. rr started the chase with all guns blazing as jaiswal went completely berserk in the powerplay scoring a quickfire 45. but gt’s spin duo completely choked the runs in the middle overs and forced rr to make mistakes. it came down to 15 runs needed off the final over and rashid khan bowled an absolute masterclass conceding just 6 runs. gt won a classic nail-biter by 8 runs to march into the grand final!
